Counting the calories can help you to know how much you need to restrict in order to get a better, shapelier body. Read on to know how you should count your daily calorie intake.

This is one of the best ways to keep track of calories and how much you need to consume in order to stay healthy enough to carry out daily activities while being able to shed excess pounds from your body without trying too hard. These calculators, basically websites, online apps, smartphone apps, desktop software applications and online services, are extremely assistive devices that can help you find out how many calories you need each day and consider your age, weight, height and level of activity.

BMR Equation

The Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Equation is another way to count you calories. The BMR is the amount of calories that your body burns even if do not do anything significant during the entire day. In other words, it is the amount of energy required by your body in order to make all the physiological processes running. Once you have calculated your BMR, you can restrict the intake of calories for some time in order to burn up already existing fat deposits faster and use them for energy. Once you are in good shape, you should eat slightly higher than the BMR rate so that your body does not get starved. For men, BMR equates to 66 + (6.23 X your weight in pounds) + (12.7 X your height in inches) – (6.8 X your age in year). For women, it is equal to 655 + (4.35 X your weight in pounds) + (4.7 X your height in inches) – (4.7 X your age in years).

Daily Maintenance Calorie Equation

Also known as the DMC Calorie Equation, it can help you to count the number of calories that you need each and every day in order to maintain your body. If you wish to lose weight, you have to consume around 10 – 15% less calories than the daily maintenance calorie intake. If you want to how to calculate calories with DMC, for men, the DMC equation stands as weight in pounds multiplied by 16 calories per pound. For women, DMC equates to weight in pounds multiplied by 15 calories per pound. If you are a man who weighs 200 pounds, your DMC will be 3200 calories and you need to consume slightly less than this amount in order to shed weight. In case you are a women with a total body weight of 170 pounds, your DMC will be 2550 pounds. You have to a little lower than this amount if you have to lose weight fast. Once you have shed excess fat, you need to consume as per your usual BMR in order to avoid starvation.
